There will be time for a Q&A. \n\n\n\nAbout SONGS\n\nFrom 1968 to 2012\, nuclear energy production at San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station helped clear the air in Southern California with its emissions-free electricity. In 2013\, the plant was permanently retired and started on a new journey called decommissioning.\n\n\n\nSONGS' Public Information Officer John Dobken will provide an overview of the decommissioning process\, show the progress being made to dismantle the structures on site\, and explain how the spent nuclear fuel that remains is being safely stored.\n\n\n\nIn his role of public information officer and media relations manager for SONGS and Southern California Edison\,  John manages relationships with local and national media\, as well as social media channels and participates in community outreach. \n\n\n\nPrior to joining SCE\, John led external engagement strategies for Energy Northwest\, owner and operator of Columbia Nuclear Generating Station in Washington state.  John has a master's degree in business management\, and received a journalism degree from San Diego State University.
