Join the Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary on Wednesday, February 18 at 5:45 PM at the Dana Point City Council Chambers (33282 Golden Lantern, Dana Point) for a meaningful and inspiring evening featuring guest speaker Janice Munemitsu. Janice is the author of The Kindness of Color, a powerful family story rooted in Orange County that explores how acts of compassion helped families persevere through injustice and racism during World War II.
Through the experiences of her Japanese American family and their Mexican American neighbors, Janice shares a deeply personal narrative connected to the historic Mendez et al. v. Westminster case, which desegregated California public schools and helped pave the way for Brown v. Board of Education. Drawing from her family history and professional background, Janice offers thoughtful reflections on resilience, justice, and the enduring power of kindness.
Pizza, charcuterie, chicken wings, and non-alcoholic beverages will be served. Guests are welcome.
RSVP to ljcibelli@msn.com by February 17.
